Ecosynthetix uses corn feedstock to create a petroleum replacement for polymers. My challenge was to make investors think of corn in a new way. It had to appear heroic, high-tech and new. My solution called for glow wires, fresh corn on the cob, a great photographer and some delicate Photoshop retouching. The raw photo is shown with glow wires clipped on; you can see the final touched-up image in the brochure spread.

  • Unusual shape A square shape helps the brochure stand out from typical collateral
  • Creative hero photography ideas ranged from corn emerging from the desert to oil references, but the final solution that worked was glow wires to give the corn a high-tech feel
  • Strong writing The copywriter kept the content short and told a compelling story
